The City Legal Enforcement Unit (CLEU) recently removed vendors occupying several areas of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) and the Bacolod Public Plaza.
In a radio interview yesterday morning, CLEU head Dante Mendecielo said the regular removal of vendors at the BCGC typically takes place in the afternoon.
He said around 30 vendors were also vacated from the Bacolod Public Plaza, along with an agreement with the General Services Office (GSO) to guard the area in order to block the return of the vendors.
Last week, the CLEU also conducted clearing operations at the Burgos Public Market and removed several fruit stalls that had extended their stalls up to the gutter.
The Sum-ag Public Market is also undergoing clearing operations for vendors who have occupied the street, which causes traffic in the area.
In contrast, during the recent Kumpas Barangay event at the Barangay Granada hall, after residents complained about vendors clogging local streets, Barangay Granada Captain Alfredo Talimodao, Jr. said the presence of the vendors bolsters free enterprise./WDJ
