Following their 2016 regional search for best PESO (Public Employment Service Office), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) named Iloilo as the best in the Western Visayas in the first class provincial category, last month.
“Our strong partnership with the private sector, national government agencies, non-government organizations, civic organizations, and the academe proved very vital in the implementation of our programs and services,” said Iloilo PESO chief Francsico Tirador Heler, Jr. “On top of this, the support that we get from Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. and the honorable members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is a strengthening motivation and enabling factor for our office.”
The provincial office was formally created in 2015 and provides such services as local market information, career coaching and employment orientation, and placement and referral
The distinction as best regional PESO qualifies the Iloilo office for consideration for the national title in the first class provincial category, which will be decided in October./WDJ
