An estimated 300 individuals gathered at the Talisay City Hall Dela Rama Hall earlier this week for the 1st Talisay City Sports Development Summit, intended to revive the local sports community.
Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares III addressed the event, saying, “Today’s summit is an opportune time to plan together for the future of sports in Talisay City.” He also vowed his full support for the development of specific sports, including basketball, football, taekwondo, volleyball, badminton, among others.
A covenant signing also took place.
Assistant City Administrator Ismael Penado spoke to those gathered about the Talisay City Sports Development Council, which includes Lizares, City Councilor Gabriel Villacin, Executive Assistant Renel Garcia, Department of Education (DepEd) representatives, among others as members.
Also speaking at the event were former Philippine Sports Commissioner Eric Loretizo, Olympic referee Ricky Santiago, and former member of the Philippine national football team Chieffy Caligdong./WDJ
