Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. said “there is a possibility” he may join the ruling PDP-Laban party, after claiming to receive an open invitation from House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

“You cannot accuse me of being an opportunist, I was invited,” he declared.
Defensor, who currently serves as provincial chairman for the Liberal Party (LP), insisted he did not initiate the possible partisan shift.
Last weekend, Alvarez officiated the oath of allegiance at the Iloilo Convention Center for over 4,000 Iloilo officials joining PDP-Laban, with Guimaras Governor Samuel Gumarin, another former LP member, among those participating in the mass oath-taking./WDJ
