Department of Agriculture Undersecretary for Special Concerns Ranibai Dilangalen said during a recent press conference, the public must make a “sacrifice” amid the ongoing bird flu outbreak in Luzon.
“With regards to the movement of the poultry products in the country, we have to sacrifice for now,” she said. “Hopefully, we can contain the virus.”
Locally, the Provincial Veterinary Office urged local government units to support quarantine enforcement by the Bureau of Animal Industry; while the Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) is conducting intensified monitoring of individuals with flu-like symptoms, a common indication of avian influenza, or bird flu.
CHO has also coordinated with the City Agriculture Office and the City Veterinary Office to monitor for cases of sudden bird deaths./WDJ
