Following the signing of a memorandum of agreement between Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Social Security System (SSS) officials, yesterday morning, city government job order employees are now eligible for SSS coverage through the KaltaSSS Program, which specifically caters to job order and contractual workers.
“SSS has come up with the program which would cater precisely for these people,” said the mayor.
In a press conference after the signing, Leonardia said, besides SSS coverage, job order salaries will also be increased from P7,590 a month to P9,900.
According to SSS-Bacolod east Branch Manager Lina Hilado, the agency has been campaigning for inclusion of job order employees under SSS.
“If you are a female street cleaner and become pregnant, you can avail of maternity benefits, just like a regular SSS member,” she asserted.
Hilado noted, city government job order employees are only assured of retirement benefits after being employed by the city government for a total 10 years.
Last week, SSS-Bacolod signed a memorandum of agreement with the Home Development Mutual Fund, or Pag-IBIG Fund, to cover their job order employees under the same program./WDJ
