Two alleged mauling suspects were caught by Bago City police following a scuffle at Purok Limbo, Barangay Poblacion, Bago City, Negros Occidental, Monday
Police identified the suspects as 25-year-old Wilbert Sabidonia and 44-year-old Carmelo Miravalles, along with an accomplice, only identified by his alias ‘To-King Hizon,’ all residents of the said barangay.
The victim was identified as 44-year-old Ruben Aguilar, also a resident of the said barangay.
Bago City police said the station received a call from the city hospital around 1:00 a.m. saying the victim of a mauling incident, with wounds to the right side of his head and across different parts of his body, was confined at the hospital.
In a statement made by Aguilar to police, he was playing a card game when he was struck on the head with a bottle of whisky by To-King and was mauled by Sabidonia and Miravalles.
In a follow-up investigation conducted by the station, Sabidonia and Miravalles were arrested after being positively identified by the witnesses.
Recovered from the caught suspects was a stainless knife measuring 12 inches from tip to handle.
Aguilar was later transferred to the Teresita Locsin Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City for further medication, while the arrested suspects may face assault charges./WDJ
