Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor yesterday said the municipal government of Isabela will relaunch the Tigkalalag Festival this year.
Malabor said the municipality of Isabela used to celebrate the Tigkalalag Festival every November 1 and 2, however, it was shelved the last four years due to a change of local leadership.
“It is basic Filipino culture and practically all of us celebrate the occasion,” he said.
Malabor pointed out, during the occasion, many from outside the town return home to reunite with family members.
For this year, Malabor said part of the celebration will include a cooking contest of native delicacies, including suman, puto, among others.
“We will promote our very own native delicacies,” he stressed.
The mayor also pointed out, during the event, many tourists visit the town to watch the festival dance./WDJ
