Ceres-Negros FC beat Kaya FC-Makati, 3-2, in the ongoing Philippines Football League (PFL) over the weekend at the University of Makati Football Stadium.
Ceres forward Omid Nazari opened scoring in the 19th minute, closing the first half up 1-0.
Five minutes into the second half, midfielder Arnie Pasinabo, Jr. doubled the lead for the Negrense side. However, shortly after, Kaya striker Robert Lopez Mendy pulled one back in the 52nd minute.
Ceres midfielder Bienvenido Marañón added to the lead in the 61st minute, following a pass from forward Fernando Rodríguez, putting the visitors up 3-1.
Towards the end of added time, Kaya forward Jordan Mintah added a goal to their tally, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
Following the win, Ceres remains in fourth place on the PFL table, two points behind Kaya and eight points behind league leaders FC Meralco Manila; however, the Negrense club still has five games in hand relative to the Makati club and four games from Meralco./WDJ
