Assumption Iloilo student Andrea Hope Espinosa Uy and Kinaadman Foundation Elementary School student Recsan Triumphante took home gold at the China Primary Mathematics Olympiad, which took place in Hangzhou, China last month.
“Before this competition, I studied harder than I could,” said Uy. “I am very happy that our team won.”
In the team competition, Uy and Triumphante took gold in the relay. In individual contests, Uy won silver in calculation and bronze in problem-solving, while Triumphante took bronze in both events.
“I’m thankful to my parents for the support they gave me during the competition,” said Triumphante. “Without them, my experience would be different.”
The two recently presented their medals and certificates to Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. during a courtesy visit./WDJ
