The Bacolod City government organized Task Force Panghawan to clear waterways around the city classified as “danger zones” and unfit for human habitation.
According to City Administrator John Orola, the group will be headed by Executive Assistant Celestino Guara.
He explained the task force is part of the city’s flood control plan as duties will primarily include the removing of illegal structures lined up along the city’s major creeks and rivers, as well as those who have constructed homes under bridges.
“We are preparing the relocation sites,” assured Orola.
However, while the city administrator projected around 400 families will be displaced, he admitted, “We can only accommodate around 100 to 200 families.”/WDJ
