NPA suspected of vandalism at Siaton quarry

Suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) are said to be behind the burning of heavy equipment owned by a private construction company at a quarry site in Barangay Caticugan, Siaton City, Negros Oriental Sunday afternoon.
According to police, five armed men burned a backhoe and a payloader maintained by Medalla Construction, which is owned by Medalla Yocor Sia of Barangay Banilad, Dumaguete City.
Witnesses also claim to have heard the suspects shout “Mabuhay ang NPA” after firing their guns at the windshields of heavy equipment.
Bullet casings from various long and short firearms, three live carbine bullets, one deformed slug of unknown caliber, and a container of suspected gasoline were recovered by authorities.
No one was wounded in the alleged NPA raid.
Local cops are continuing to investigate the identities of the suspects./WDJ
