Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia welcomed the 20-member Overseas Chinese Trade and Investment Mission delegation in the MassKara Hall at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), yesterday.
“May your first visit to Bacolod be productive and bear fruit in the future,” he said.
It was previously reported, the group, led by Philippine-Chinese ChaoShan Youth Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Lim, would be presented an economic profile of the city and take a tour of local tourist attractions and potential investment sites.
With the visitors coming from cities across China, including Hong Kong, Shantou, Tianjin, and Guangzhou, the mayor noted, “We hope someday we may reciprocate your visit with a trade mission to your respective cities in China as well.”
“I am sure our local businessmen will be happy to reciprocate and join this trade delegation,” he added.
Leonardia thanked local business groups who attended the event, including the Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Negros Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Southern Negros Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bacolaodiat Festival group, the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Association of Negros Producers.
The mayor also thanked Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Public Safety Jesus Hinlo, Jr. for “opening the doors and providing the opportunity.”/WDJ
