The men’s and women’s teams of the Tchoukball Association of the Philippines (TAP) are set to leave for Kaohsiung, Taiwan next week, August 7, for the 2nd World Beach Tchoukball Championships, which is scheduled to run from August 14 to 18.
The 21-member team includes several players from Bacolod City.
The men’s team features player-coach John Elray Jamelo, assistant coach-player Benjie Oray, Rik Aldrei Despojo, and Josiah Su; while the women’s side includes team captain Nadine Julia Crisostomo, Mary Abelarde, Ashley Julienne Pedregosa, and Ivanna Aguilar.
The competition will see 14 teams from around the world competing in the men’s event, while the women’s side has nine countries contending for the title.
Back in April, the 2017 Philippine Open Tchoukball Invitational was held in Cebu City, where Taiwan captured the men’s event, while Singapore won the women’s title. Both teams beat Bacolod City-based sides in their respective finals./WDJ
