FC Meralco Manila defeated the winless Davao Aguilas FC over the weekend, 3-2, to reclaim their position atop the Philippines Football League (PFL) table.
However, heading into halftime, Davao held a 2-1 advantage, following goals from forward Harry Sawyer and midfielder Matthew Hartmann.
Manila launched their comeback in the second half, following up the first half goal from midfielder Milan Nikolić with midfielder James Younghusband scoring the equalizer in the 64th minute, off a pass from his brother, striker Phil Younghusband.
Nikolić scored the winner and earned a brace in the 66th minute, clinching the comeback victory for the league leaders.
Ceres-Negros FC, meanwhile, currently sits in third place, five points adrift of the top spot, but with two games in hand.
Despite the victory, it was also announced both Younghusbands would be leaving Manila, signing a five-year deal with the club they just defeated.
“They asked for a release from their current contract and we granted it,” the Manila-based club said in a statement.
