Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) spokesperson, Police Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, said, with the extension of Martial Law, the region should expect more Marawi City evacuees in the region.
According to PRO-6, a total of 265 individuals seeking refuge in the region have settled across Panay.
He added, the Muslim community in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo have been cooperative with police.
Last month, Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo said there were around 80 Marawi City residents who were staying with relatives in Dumaguete City and Tanjay City.
Prior to that, after an estimated 30 evacuating families initially arrived in Dumaguete City, Mayor Felipe Remollo ordered the city’s police force to conduct screenings of incoming evacuees./WDJ
