Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia is currently in Taguig City to attend the 3rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Mayors Forum, which is scheduled to end today, July 28.
“We must position Bacolod to prepare for ASEAN integration,” said the mayor. “Our people must be made conscious and ready for new realities.”
The forum seeks to provide an interactive venue to discuss socio-economic issues impacting local government units across the ASEAN region, along with formulating ways of developing more sustainable urbanization.
Speakers at the event included Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, who spoke on behalf of President Rodrigo Duterte; United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG-AsPac) Secretary General, Dr. Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi; and League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) national president, Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.
