The Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENRO) of Cadiz City and Sagay City underwent training on coral assessment and recently conducted a coral assessment in the Sagay Marine Reserve.
The five-day training included lectures from marine biologists, academic professors, and experts and technical staff from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Negros Island Region (DENR-NIR) office.
Underwater assessments were later conducted in the Carbin, Panal, and Macahulom reefs, which included a macro-invertebrate survey and a fish visual census.
Surveys were also conducted via photo-transect and point-transect methods in order to gather an estimate on the biodiversity of the sample section./WDJ
