The “Build, Build, Build” program by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte includes four Western Visayas infrastructure projects among its priorities.
According to the National Economic Development Authority-Region 6 (NEDA-6), those projects include P30 billion for improvements to Iloilo Airport, P27 billion for the Panay-Negros-Guimaras bridges, P20 billion for the Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project, and P20 billion for improvements to Bacolod-Silay Airport.
Additionally, NEDA-6 Director Ro-Ann Bacal said Bacolod-Silay Airport will soon begin providing international flights; while airports in Kabankalan City, San Carlos City, along with community airports in Antique, are being developed.
“They are in various stages of studies,” she said. “It is the priority of the Duterte administration that these projects be finished within his term.”/WDJ
