While speaking before the Mill District Development Council (MDCC) summit yesterday at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, Senator Cynthia Villar encouraged local sugar millers to take an active role in improving the sugar industry.
She advised the council to prepare documentation in order to take advantage of the Sugar Industry Development Act (SIDA).
“SIDA is being implemented through regular government procedure, that’s why studies are conducted, in order to hasten the release of funds,” she explained.
The senator added, funds will eventually be released in order to solve current problems impacting the sugar industry.
MDCC was formed by the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) to encourage involvement and participation from the private sector in the advancement of the sugar industry./WDJ
