The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) and the Department of Health (DOH) met yesterday to finalize plans to provide free medical check-up to professional fighters, including CT scans and MRIs.
Following recent revelations showing over 100 GAB-licensed fighters falsified medical records, GAB Chairman Abraham Kahlil Mitra said it is his agency’s responsibility to ensure the safety of professional fighters.
Details later revealed 70 boxers submitted fake CT scans, while another 41 tampered with existing records.
In a meeting with the concerned boxers, managers, trainers, and promoters, it was decided boxers would be able to fight upon the submission of new CT scans./WDJ
