Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia recently presented a token he received from Robert Garcia, mayor of Long Beach in California, Bacolod’s “sister city.” The gift follows a recent visit to the American city by Bacolod City Councilors Caesar Distrito and Em Ang; and City Administrator John Orola.

During a recent press conference at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), the mayor presented a ceramic piece crafted by Christopher Miles, interim dean of the College of the Arts at California State University-Long Beach.

“It is my hope that we can continue this fruitful partnership for many years to come,” said Garcia in a statement. “I wish you and the people of Bacolod success, prosperity, and happiness.”

During the Bacolod City delegation visit to Long Beach, Ang delivered a 10-year economic development plan, while Orola formally invited the officials to this year’s MassKara Festival, scheduled for October.

A MassKara souvenir for Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia was also presented to Legislative Deputy for the city of Long Beach, Dr. Tyler Curley./WDJ
