Students from Sum-ag Elementary School, La Consolacion College Integrated School, and the Bacolod Homeschoolers Network gathered at SM City Bacolod yesterday for National Children’s Book Reading Day.
Bacolod City Councilor Cindy Rojas read “Two Friends, One World,” by Ramon Vicente Sunico, about friendship; while Arvin Gee Losañes of a leading business process outsourcing firm in the city read “Bumabaral-Bara-Bara!,” by Fernando Rosal Gonzalez, about proper waste disposal, recycling, and taking care of the environment.
Participants also received a set of books and educational materials from SM and National Bookstore.
Meanwhile, a set of 100 books were donated to the Sum-ag Elementary School library.
Department of Education-Bacolod (DepEd-Bacolod) education supervisor, Dr. Janalyn Navarro, was also on hand to encourage children to explore the world through reading./WDJ
