The lifeless remains of a man were found along a pathway at Purok Carmen, Barangay Miranda, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, yesterday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Bennie Bautista, a 27-year-old a resident of the said barangay.

Based on reports by Pontevedra municipal police, the victim was found by Johanie Gicangco, another resident of the said area.

It is said the victim was causing a ruckus near a barangay dance and was sent away by a friend, identified as Roderick Villaspin, near the victim’s house.

After about an hour, the body was discovered.

Bautista was rushed to the Valladolid District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician due to a hack wound on the upper left portion of his head and multiple stabbed wounds to his body.

Pontevedra police are still conducting an investigation into the identity of the assailant./MIS, WDJ
