According to Bacolod City Liga ng mga Barangay (Liga) President and Barangay Tangub Captain Noli Villarosa, incumbent barangay officials could be terminated by October.

Villarosa added he is almost certain the upcoming barangay elections in October will be postponed.

“Let’s wait for the SONA (State of the Nation Address) of the president as he is definitely making an important announcement on the barangay elections,” he stated.

The SONA is set to be delivered next week, July 24.

Meanwhile, Villarosa noted, during last week’s Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) National Assembly, Senate President Aquilino Pimentel, Senator Richard Gordon, and Congressman Reynaldo Umali each declared their support for postponing barangay elections./DGB, WDJ
