A motorcycle driver was declared dead after he was sideswiped by a bus in the pedestrian lane along the national highway in Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Police identified the fatality as 22-year-old Regienald Hinggaray, a resident of Caridad 1, Barangay Luna, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, the injured was identified as Allan Iwayan, 36, a resident of Barangay Gen. Luna, Toboso, Negros Occidental.

Traffic investigators from the Cadiz City police station said Hinggaray’s motorcycle was traveling towards Barangay Luna when he was sideswiped by a Ceres Bus.

Hinggaray was immediately taken to the Cadiz City District Hospital, just in front of the accident area, however he later succumbed to injuries to his head and body.

Iwayan, the bus driver assistant, suffered several injuries to his body and was later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.

No charges are expected to be filed as Hinggaray, being on the wrong side of the road, was deemed at fault for the incident./MIS, WDJ
