Teacher, motorcyclist fall into river in Sagay City

A teacher and a motorcycle driver were declared missing after their motorcycle accidentally fell into the Himoga-an River in Barangay Bato, Sagay City, yesterday morning.

Police identified the victims as 23-year-old Rona Beleganio, a resident of Barangay Himoga-an Baybay in the said city and a teacher at Shermanhill Elementary School; and Clodualdo Abisamis, 58, a resident of Barangay Baviera in the said city.

In a report by Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod yesterday morning, the two were traveling along a bridge in the area when Abisamis reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and slid off the bridge and into the river.

The two were then swept away by the strong current.

Authorities conducted a search and rescue operation in the area, but, as of press time, they have only recovered Beleganio’s bag./DGB, WDJ
