Abang-Lingkod Party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano said he opposes the proposal to appoint barangay officials in the event the barangay elections, slated for October this year, are postponed.

In a recent interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, Paduano said he expects House Bill 5359, which was introduced by Surigao del Norte second district Rep. Robert Barbers, will be tackled on July 24, during the opening session of the House of Representatives.

Paduano argued, “There is a high likelihood of internal conflicts within the barangay administration, especially if the wrong people are chosen.”
