Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog warned city residents of scammers who solicit money with the promise of a barangay appointment.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) OIC Catalino Cuy previously released an advisory warning such scams can come as a phone call or text message.

The mayor advised the public to report such incidents to the City DILG or to the nearest police station.

City DILG head, Atty. Ferdinand Panes, noted there is currently no law that indicates barangay officials will be appointed./WDJ
