After the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Region VI (DENR-6) requested a Philippine Airlines (PAL) development project to cease, after the organization Friends of the Flying Foxes (FFF) claimed a development project by PAL bulldozed and destroyed a bat habitat, the airline company agreed to discuss a compromise.
The two parties are looking to reserve two hectares of land for the flying fox bat habitat.
DENR-6 Director Jim Sampulna called the area a “critical habitat” for the species.
FFF noted, they would like to see the area declared as a protected area and said the bat species is near extinction./WDJ
