According to acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea, Provincial Capitol employees will undergo random drug testing between this month and August.
“The date [for testing] will not be announced,” she said. “It could be conducted next month when funds would be available.”
“This is part of the Civil Service Commission move towards professionalizing government service and to ensure those in public service are worthy of being public servants,” she added.
Gelvolea noted, those who test positive may face suspension and eventually dismissal, however, they will be provided due process through human resources and the Provincial Legal Office.
She added, there have been reports of employees involved with illegal drugs, but has no personal knowledge of the situation./WDJ
