One suspect is confirmed dead, while his cousin escaped, after engaging in a firefight with police in Barangay Mabini, Cadiz City over the weekend.
Police identified the dead suspect as Rodel Cordova; while his cousin, Jury Cordova, managed to flee the area.
In a report by Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, Cadiz City Police chief, Police Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, said a Dutch national, identified as Eric Constanzo, and 44-year-old Paul Batusin visited their station claiming the Cordova cousins pointed a firearm at them.
Police visited the area pointed out by Constanzo and Batusin and found the suspects standing near an embankment.
As law enforcement approached the cousins, the two allegedly opened fire at police, prompting cops to return fire.
Rodel was killed after being shot, while Jury fled the area.
Cadiz City police are currently conducting a manhunt operation against the surviving cousin./WDJ
