A tornado ravaged the Himamaylan City barangays of Nabalian and Kabanban last Thursday.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod yesterday, Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Ernesto Bascon said one house was confirmed destroyed, while 16 others were damaged.
Bascon also confirmed a school was damaged in the incident.
He said the destroyed house was made of light materials and the strong winds generated by the tornado lifted its roof.
Despite the damages, he said there is no need for evacuation and there were no reported injuries.
Bascon added, the head of the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) visited the affected area and distributed relief packs.
The Himamaylan City government is also conducting a damage assessment in preparation for the distribution of financial assistance to affected residents./WDJ
