After Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. questioned if the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) needed Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approval before drilling water wells, Baciwa General Manager Mario Macatangay said it was not a requirement.
“I don’t think we need the SP approval,” he stated. “These are programs of Baciwa to augment to the water shortage.”
He explained the city currently needs around five million liters of water per day. In order to accomplish that, the general manager said the utility firm needed to drill another six wells to compensate.
Macatangay noted the drilling has already been completed but the wells are not yet fully operational.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Building Official (OBO) served a second violation notice to Baciwa contractor Bacolod Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI), surrounding the construction of a facility in Barangay Granada.
According to OBO head, Engr. Isidro Sun, no building permit was ever granted to BBWI./WDJ
