Barangay captains in Bago City are on alert after Barangay Bacong Captain Frederico Gayagas survived an attempt on his life last Sunday.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod yesterday, Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) Bago City President Cerio Piansay said they are just ensuring their safety.
Piansay said he instructed his fellow barangay captains to inform their tanods to report any individuals acting suspicious in their respective barangays.
They are also considering profiling residents.
Piansay stated he recently visited Gayagas at an undisclosed hospital in Bacolod City and confirmed he is currently recovering from gunshot wounds.
Earlier, Bago City police deputy, Police Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, said Gayagas managed to draw his firearm against his attackers causing them to retreat.
Trigue believes the suspects may have been waiting for Gayagas since early Sunday morning, as they recovered several pieces of bread in the area where they are suspected to have camped out./WDJ
