Following criticism by New People’s Army (NPA) Leonardo Panaligan Command spokesperson JB Regalado calling 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) commander, Major General Jon Aying, a “mad dog,” the military leader responded by saying the group has no interest in the peace process.
“[The NPA] wants to shock the government and project that they are still a strong group in order for their demands to be met,” said Aying.
He said their attacks, including the recent killings of a sugar planter and his driver in Calatrava and the burning of an abandoned detachment in Escalante City, shows their resistance to peace.
Police in Bago City are also currently probing if the rebel group was behind the recent assassination attempt on Barangay Bacong Captain Frederico Gayagas./WDJ
