Author Marlene Aguilar, sister of musician Freddie Aguilar, recently donated books to Antique and toured the province, which, according to her husband, former Asian Development Bank principal economist Stephen J. Pollard, is the “most beautiful” in the Philippines.
Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao, who received the donation, called Aguilar “an icon of a woman who is tough and strong.”
During a recent flag raising ceremony, the writer encouraged locals to protect their province and to have pride in the things that make them unique from the rest of the country.
Aguilar has traveled to over 55 countries and lived in the United States for 12 years./WDJ
