A blaze hit the home owned by the parents of Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, along Rosario Street, Barangay 39, Saturday afternoon. No one was injured in the incident but the ancestral house was damaged.
Based on statements from Leonardia, he was about to leave the house when the fire started inside the upstairs room of his elder sibling.
Fire trucks were immediately dispatched and the fire was under control minutes after they arrived.
An investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) determined an old electrical wire caused the blaze.
According to Leonardia, the house was constructed in 1971 and was made of wood./WDJ
