Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares assured residents of Barangay Concepcion he would take action in regards to swarm of flies allegedly originating from a nearby poultry farm, following a protest conducted outside City Hall.
In a report by Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, the complainants claimed the flies came from a chicken farm owned by a certain Ramiro Lim and his family.
Talisay City Councilor William Malan said affected residents staged a protest last Thursday. They later dispersed after Lizares promised to act on the problem.
Malan, however, noted the issue was not tackled during their Sangguniang Panlungsod regular session last week, explaining the mayor had not issued a request to intervene.
Meanwhile, Gina Serye, leader of the protest group, said Lizares promised he would arrange a meeting with the farm owner to discuss their complaint.
She said they would be vigilant and hold the mayor accountable./WDJ
