Members of the Civil Security Unit (CSU) seized several fake firearms allegedly used by security guards, following a routine inspection of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) yesterday.
CSU chief, Police Superintendent Elmo Guevarra, said they conducted a routine inspection of the hospital’s security and determined 12 of the 9mm pistols being carried by guards are fakes.
Guevarra said they seized the firearms, which are owned by guards working for the JDS Security Agency based in Cebu City.
He stated the seized firearms will be forwarded to the police crime laboratory for further examination, while they conduct an administrative investigation into JDS.
Guevarra said, if the firearms are proven to be fake, the security agency may face criminal and administrative charges.
CLMMRH chief, Dr. Julius Drilon, meanwhile, said there is no need for alarm.
Guevarra also paid a courtesy call to Drilon following the discovery./WDJ
