Following recent high-value drug seizures in Barangays Villamonte and Taculing in Bacolod City, Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) director, Police Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, said profiling for drug suspects will be extended to those from Marawi City seeking refuge in Negros Island.
He said it is important to profile evacuees, especially after determining the seized drugs originated from Mindanao.
Earlier, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) acting director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, speculated the recent drug hauls likely originated from Mindanao.
Castil believes drug couriers are taking the “usual” drug route, arriving at the port of San Carlos City and transporting the illicit substance to Bacolod City via Don Salvador Benedicto and Murcia.
Gonzales, in response, also ordered the cops in the region to set up anti-drug checkpoints across the province./WDJ
