The six Negrense athletes called up to join the Philippine sepak takraw team left for Manila yesterday for final preparations before heading for Singapore to take part in the 9th ASEAN School Games, which runs from July 13 to 21.
Among the local athletes called up are Ian Gerald Sudayan, June Clyde Abellano, Ricky Guarino, and Edhmic Dave Balderas of Victorias National High School; Paul John Embahador of Bata National High School; and Kervy Jules Cayetano of Lopez Jaena National High School (Murcia).
Sepak takraw is one of ten events to be contested at the ASEAN School Games. Other sports include athletics, badminton, basketball, gymnastics, netball, swimming, table tennis, tenpin bowling, and volleyball./WDJ
