Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya led the inauguration of a P9.8 million pedestrian overpass yesterday in front of the A. L. Jayme Elementary School in Barangay Mansilingan.
“The people of Mansilingan should be very happy,” said the mayor. “You have the distinction of being the first barangay in Bacolod City to receive an overpass from the national government.”
Leonardia also extended his appreciation to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Road Board, and Gasataya.
Road Board comptroller Edgardo Conchu was also present during the event, where he noted, “We will be putting more money in the Visayas and Mindanao.”
He added, three more pedestrian overpasses and a bicycle lane are currently in the works for Bacolod City.
Also in attendance were Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran; Public Information Officer Philip Palma; Barangay Mansilingan officials; and A. L. Jayme Elementary School students, parents, and teachers./WDJ
