A hat trick from Ceres-Negros FC forward Fernando Rodriguez helped the Negrense club dismantle Stallion Laguna FC, 5-1, in their Philippines Football League (PFL) match at the Panaad Park and Stadium last night.
The goals started with Ceres striker Bienvenido Marañón, who met the back of the net in the 17th minute. However, Stallion midfielder Jesus Melliza landed the equalizer 10 minutes later.
Marañón landed a brace in 37th minute and put the home team back in front; this was followed by the first of Rodriguez’ goal, which came in the 44th minute.
Ceres went into the half up 3-1.
Rodriguez completed his hat trick with goals in the 53rd and 85th minutes.
The win marks a third straight home win for Ceres.
Both teams meet again at the Panaad this weekend./WDJ
