A barangay kagawad died after being shot by two unidentified men who entered his home in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental, Monday evening.
Police identified the fatality as 52-year-old Celso Menioso, Jr., a resident of Purok Wawa in the said barangay and bookkeeper for Hacienda Wawa, which is owned by Carlo Tinsay.
Murcia municipal police said, based on statements by the victim’s wife, Menioso was watching television when two gunmen forcibly entered the house and opened fire using .45 caliber and 9mm pistols.
Menioso fled to his bedroom, where he was again shot by the suspects.
The suspects exited the house, boarded two waiting motorcycles, and sped off.
Police said two other suspects were waiting with the motorcycles serving as lookouts.
A preliminary autopsy of the victim’s remains determined he sustained gunshot wounds to the head, chest, and stomach.
Cops also recovered four empty .45 caliber shells, two empty 9mm shells, and one .45 caliber slug.
Murcia police continue to investigate the incident./WDJ
