A Bienvenido Marañón hat trick led Ceres-Negros FC to a 3-1 win over Kaya FC at the Panaad Park and Stadium over the weekend, maintaining an unblemished home record for the Negrense club.
The first of his goals came during stoppage time after the first period, giving the home side a 1-0 advantage going into the break.
However, in the 55th minute, Kaya forward Robert Lopez Mendy landed the equalizer, following a cross from midfielder and Barotac Nuevo-borne Jovin Bedic.
Ceres were later awarded a penalty following an encounter between Marañón and Kaya goalkeeper Ref Cuaresma. The Ceres forward converted and doubled the lead in the 69th minute.
Marañón, the eventual “Man of the Match,” scored his third in 88th minute.
“This game was very hard after two losses but I think we fought to win this game and we deserve the result,” said the Ceres striker.
For Ceres coach Risto Vidaković, he said the game was not an easy one and, pointed out, the club has a lot of missed chances in the first half.
