Following an incident where four fishermen from Dapitan City were held in Sipalay City for lack of proper transit documents, Valladolid Mayor Enrique Miravalles has ordered local police to monitor for suspicious boats in the municipality’s waters.
Miravalles noted the town is, so far, peaceful, and shared accounts of unfamiliar motorboats stopping in local waters.
Barangay officials were also told to monitor boats pulling into port, particularly those carrying unfamiliar individuals.
Meanwhile, in light of the recent tornado that struck the town, Miravalles said they have already provided assistance to the affected residents.
He said the owners of destroyed homes received P5,000, and both municipal and provincial governments provided food and medical supplies./WDJ
