Boarder found dead in Dumaguete City

A boarder renting a room at a pension house was found dead by the establishment’s staff in Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete City, Wednesday afternoon.
Police identified the fatality as 58-year-old Gaudencio Verdida.
According to the Dumaguete City police, a call from the pension house owner came in around 1:00 p.m. indicating the discovery of Verdida’s remains inside the room he was renting.
Police interviewed staff and they determined, prior to the discovery, one of the guests complained of a foul odor when passing Verdida’s room.
After peeking through the shutters, they discovered the victim’s remains.
Dumaguete City police added they have yet to determine if there was foul play involved in the incident, and the remains are scheduled to undergo an autopsy to probe the cause of death./WDJ
