A lone goal from striker Antonie Viterale was enough for S.League club Hougang United to beat Ceres-Negros FC in the 2017 RHB Singapore Cup.
Despite first half attempts by Ceres midfielders Stephan Schröck and OJ Porteria, the busmen found the Hougang defense a challenge to penetrate.
It was not until the 77th minute that Viterale put one past Ceres goalkeeper Louie Casas.
With time winding down, attempts by Ceres striker Bienvenido Marañón and Porteria were fruitless in obtaining an equalizer.
“We were not especially prepared for this game but we came here to play and gave everything,” said Ceres coach Risto Vidaković. “I’m very proud of the players.”
