The United Negros Drivers and Operators Center (UNDOC) announced yesterday it will join a signature drive against the implementation of the Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) Modernization Program by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
UNDOC Secretary-General Diego Malacad said, aside from the signature campaign, they will appeal to President Rodrigo Duterte and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to defer the implementation of the modernization program in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental as Euro 4 and electronic jeepneys are still unavailable in the area.
Malacad stressed they will no longer hold transport strikes due to the non-cooperation of other local transport groups.
He also clarified the signature campaign and appeal will be spearheaded by the Diocese of Bacolod Social Action Center and the Negros chapter of militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan)./WDJ
